Equipment and items for the Ski Touring & Split Boarding:

  1. Avalanche Equipment: It is crucial to have avalanche safety gear, including an avalanche transceiver (also known as a beacon), probe, and shovel. These tools are essential for avalanche rescue and should be carried by every participant.
  2. Optional Safety Gear: While not mandatory, an airbag backpack and an avalung can provide additional safety in the event of an avalanche. These devices can help increase your chances of staying on the surface of the snow during an avalanche and provide a source of fresh air.
  3. Eye Protection: Sun glasses or a ski mask are essential to protect your eyes from the sun’s glare, snow, and wind. Choose a pair that provides adequate UV protection and fits comfortably.
  4. Free ride Backpack: A backpack with a capacity of 25-35 liters is recommended. This size will allow you to carry essential items such as extra layers, water, snacks, and personal belongings.
  5. Helmet (Optional): While optional, wearing a helmet is highly recommended for your safety on the slopes. It provides protection against head injuries and is especially important for skiing in off-piste and backcountry terrain.
  6. Basic First Aid Kit: It’s always wise to carry a basic first aid kit that includes essentials such as bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, and any personal medications you may require.
  7. Thermos: A thermos is handy for keeping hot beverages such as tea, coffee, or soup to stay warm and hydrated during the day.
  8. Head Flashlight: A head flashlight is useful for early morning or late afternoon skiing when lighting conditions may be dim. It can also come in handy in emergency situations or when navigating in low-light areas.
  9. Gloves: Insulated and waterproof gloves are essential to keep your hands warm and protected from the cold temperatures and snow.
  10. Recommended Skis: For the specific conditions of the region, it is recommended to use fat skis with a width of 110mm or more. These wider skis provide better floatation in deep snow and allow for a more enjoyable free ride experience.
  11. Split Board

Notes:

Please ensure that you have all the necessary equipment and that it is in good working condition before the trip. Safety should always be a top priority, and being well-prepared will contribute to a successful and enjoyable Cat Skiing adventure.

Tour Grade: This tour is designed for those who want to explore beautiful landscapes in untouched areas with breathtaking views. However, it’s important to note that the snow conditions in Kyrgyzstan may vary due to its distance from seas and oceans. The quality and quantity of snow can depend on luck. The region has a dry continental climate with low moisture and temperatures, which can result in snow that resembles sugar. This leads to a high avalanche danger on many free ride slopes. It’s crucial to be aware of these conditions and exercise caution.

Experience and Physical Conditions: To ensure safety and maximize everyone’s skiing experience, participants in the tour should have similar physical conditions and experience in freeriding and ski touring. While formal avalanche safety certification or glacier travel and ski mountaineering experience are not required, it is beneficial if participants have training and experience in using avalanche equipment and practicing safety measures. The guides will provide a short briefing on these topics to refresh your memory. The guides reserve the right to choose the slope, speed, and route based on the group’s preparation and safety.

Insurance: Travel insurance is not included in the tour package. It is highly recommended that clients have their own travel insurance to cover illness, injury, and loss or damage to personal belongings. In case of an emergency, the staff will do their best to assist and transport you to a hospital or another point of care. However, if you do not have insurance, you will be required to cover the charges yourself. Your insurance should also cover helicopter services and rescue/search operations in the mountains.

Group Size: The tour operates with individual groups and does not assemble groups for specific dates. You need to assemble your own group and then contact the tour organizers to arrange a private tour. Each tour can be customized according to your preferences and capabilities, taking into account the capabilities of both the organizers and your group.
